La région (The region)
You will find our Maison d'hôtes at Arnay-le-Duc,
at the edge of the Auxois region and the Morvan nature park.
In
the actual village you will discover the castle of the Princes
de Condé, the fortified Tour de la Motte Forte,
a village church dedicated to St. Laurent, the Maison
de Bourgogne, and a regional museum, " Maison
Régionale des Arts de la Table ".
From
this vantage location between Beaune (35 km), famous for
its wine and its art, Dijon (55 km), historic capital of
the Dukes of Burgundy, and Autun (28 km), renowned for its
romanesque architecture, you will find many other places
of historic interest: the Hospices of Beaune, the
Castles of Commarin, Châteauneuf-en-Auxois,
the Gardens of Barbirey, the Abbeys of Cîteaux,
Fontenay, Vézelay, Saint-Seine-l'Abbaye,
and La-Pierre-qui-Vire, as well as archaeological
sites, such as Bibracte (a Gallic settlement and museum
of celtic culture), and Alise-Sainte-Reine (Alésia).
For
all lovers of good food, the name of Burgundy is synonymous
with good wines, especially in the Côte d'Or region,
which alone counts 32 of the greatest wines.
Wine Route (25 km): Côte de Beaune (Chassagne-Montrachet,
Meursault, Pommard, Aloxe-Corton), Côte de Nuits
(Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Gevrey-Chambertin).
Two
of France's greatest restaurants (Chagny - Lameloise,
Saulieu - Loiseau) are less than 30 km away.
